I was very pleasantly surprised by Arrogant Bastard, by Winter Renshaw! This was not the usual take on the Billionaire/Bad Boy/Stepbrother trope! Without giving too much away (it’s right there in the description) this is like Dangerous Liaisons crossed with the TLC show Sister Wives or the show Big Love. If you’re as obsessed with trashy TV as I am you’ll love this book as it takes you behind the scenes of a fundamentalist cult that is operating on the fringes of society.
The Hero and Heroine of this book take two different approaches to the limitations put on them by their religion– the hero chafes against them and rebels, and the heroine submits willingly… at least, she does until the hero–her new stepbrother— comes into her life.
Waverly and Jensen have a ton of chemistry, and even though Jensen is the very definition of a bad boy I was rooting for him.
The ending of the book surprised me– in a good way! I suspected something more might be going on with someone else in the household (don’t want to give away too much), and I can’t wait for the sequel to find out more.
This is a standalone, but it looks like it’s going to be the start of a nice series.
